What’s closed on Monday, July 5, 2021, for the July 4th legal holiday in the Los Angeles area

Government offices, courts, libraries and schools — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — are normally closed for the Fourth of July. Since the national holiday falls on a Sunday this year, most government offices, courts, libraries and schools are closed on July 5 in observance of the holiday.

Here is a sampling of other services that are closed, have altered service or are on a regular schedule on Monday, July 5, the legal holiday for Fourth of July.

Banks: Closed, as are New York Stock Exchange markets.

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver mail or packages and post offices are closed (about.usps.com/newsroom/eventswww.usps.com.

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a holiday schedule (for example, the Metro B Line: bit.ly/3vcnnttwww.metro.net). Metrolink trains do not operate on the Ventura County Line on July 5 (metrolinktrains.com/schedules/independence-day/). The Ventura County Line runs on its new Saturday schedule (bit.ly/3zSOqge). The Antelope Valley line runs on a regular weekend schedule on July 3-4, and operates on a Sunday schedule on July 5 (bit.ly/3wZsNZJ). www.metrolinktrains.com

Trash: Pickup schedule in Los Angeles will be delayed by one day: Monday’s trash will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday’s trash will be picked up on Wednesday and so on through the week (800-773-2489; click on What We Do, then Collection and then see Holiday Trash Collection here: www.lacitysan.org).
