L.A. County reported 2,741 new cases and 42 new deaths, Sept. 9

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 2,741 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,412,240 as of Thursday, Sept. 2. The total number of cases represents 14% of Los Angeles County’s population.

Officials reported 42 new deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total of 25,364 deaths since tracking began. The total number of deaths represents 0.25% of Los Angeles County’s population.

There were 26 fewer hospitalizations reported since Wednesday, bringing the official count of hospitalizations to 1,673, with 26% in ICU.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, 65% of Los Angeles County is fully vaccinated and more than 12,112,844 vaccine doses have been administered as of Sept. 2.
