3 wounded, suspect killed in Lancaster restaurant shooting

Three people were reported wounded and a gunman was found dead early Monday morning in a shooting at a Lancaster restaurant.

A sheriff’s SWAT team rescued a woman with a gunshot wound who was being held hostage in the restaurant on Sierra Highway and found a man inside the restaurant dead, according to a TV report.

The shooting was reported at 12:12 a.m. at a restaurant on the 42100 block of Sierra Highway, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Preliminary information indicated that two people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds, Koerner said. It was not clear whether they were taken by ambulance or private vehicles. A third woman was later taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

A news videographer at the scene reported the incident started with an altercation inside the Culichitown restaurant and that a man pulled out a gun and got into a shootout with a security guard.

FOX11 reported that the sheriff’s SWAT team rescued a wounded woman who apparently was a hostage inside the restaurant. They found the suspect dead inside.
