Crane for Netflix series falls on home near Pasadena
A crane deployed for the filming of an upcoming Netflix show toppled over and landed on a home near Pasadena Tuesday night, March 23.
A couple and a child inside the house, on the 3600 block of San Pascual Street in an unicorporated stretch, were not injured, authorities said.
There were gusts of 20 to 30 mph at the time, but it was not clear yet if wind caused the crane to fall, said Marvin Lim, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The filming is for “The Woman in the House,” according to a filming permit. Kristen Bell will star in the limit-series program for Netflix, the company says. The plot is about a woman who often drinks wine by a window and might have witnessed a murder.
At 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to the home, and the three people inside were evacuated, Lim said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Bryan Vienna said he isn’t sure if the house was part of the film location.
Wednesday morning, the crane remained on its side on the parkway, with the end of the boom resting atop the two-story home. Lim estimated damage to the boom crane at $5,000 but didn’t have the damage costs for the house yet.
