LA Animal Services meetings on proposed reopening of West Valley Animal Services Center

LA Animal Services has announced three online meetings with the public to discuss a proposed reopening of the West Valley Animal Services Center in Chatsworth.

The meetings will explore strategies and comments and feedback from the public. Staff and volunteer meetings as well as meetings with New Hope Rescue Partners have already taken place.

A reopening of the Chatsworth facility is being proposed as an expanded community resource center with New Hope Rescue Partners and other rescue groups to provide services for pet ownership for all people who are interested in having a pet companion.

Some points in the proposed plan also include

  • Providing space for a limited number of dog and cat rescue partners and one rabbit rescue partner to house and care for adoptable pets obtained from other LA Animal Services centers
  • Providing an office space for homeless advocates for people and their pets
  • Providing an office space for a qualified dog trainer to help the public with behavior and training problems
  • Providing programs and services that are accessible to all without discrimination and inequality
